Each winter, the Hill City Arts Council, in collaboration with Crow Ridge Productions, sponsors Open Stage—a favorite Black Hills experience for local performers and audiences alike. Snuggled into the barn loft at Chute Rooster every other Saturday evening, it’s a real hometown event. Favorite local singer/songwriters and poets are regulars, but all comers interested in “doing their thing” for an audience is welcome: storytellers, dancers, jugglers, joke tellers. Come on out during the "off season."

You'll find Open Stage to be a fun romp before an audience of between 60 and 150. Performers are logged on the schedule first come-first on; depending on the number of performers, each plays from two to four selections in one or two rounds.

Free admission; donations generously accepted. Plus, each night is sponsored by a local business or benefactor—if you would like to sponsor a night of Open Stage, please click This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Also, don't forget to thank Rick and Chris VanNess of Crow Ridge Productions, if you see them around. Open Stage was their brainchild, and it's a success because of their professionalism and engaging demeanors. Check out their business—our local video production facility, which is  available for making your commercials, full-length feature films, or other media products—and their biggest annual event, the Black Hills Film Festival.
